The Blue Lightning Brigade

Before the trilogy of FR books based on the Pool of Radiance game came out, I had envisioned a story of my own set around the Moonsea region and featuring a group of heroes who formed a mercenary band to augment Phlan’s city watch as the town rebuilt and expanded. Not one to abandon good ideas, I retooled the premise, creating my own world to place the mercenaries in.
As I did so, more and more story ideas involving the Blue Lightning Brigade were generated. None of them seemed involved enough for a novel, so I had the idea of publishing them as a serial for a magazine, and perhaps reprinting the collected stories in an anthology once I had written them all.
I started writing the “last” story while waiting for approval on my MoP outline back in December. It has sat on my hard drive unfinished since then. I figured I could pick it up again after the first draft of Maiden was done, and shop it around next year.
When Harley announced the theme for the second anthology from Poison Clan Press, the Blue Lightning Brigade story jumped right to mind. And, fortunately, the deadline gives me a month after turning in Maiden to work on it. I hope Loghan doesn’t get too jealous that Janner Kohl will see print first.
