There will always be something

Added another thousand words or so to “Scroll” over the past week. We’re doing an open house this coming Saturday, so Joanne and I spent Saturday shoveling barkdust and pulling weeds in the front yard. We tried to do some touch-up painting, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

As I get back into the writing groove, I once again find myself lamenting the lack of time and energy I seem to be able to muster. The first thing I do is blame all the things going on in my life: work, family, church, applying for school, selling the house, the holidays. Once I clear some of these items off my plate, I tell myself, I’ll be able to focus more on writing. Joanne gently pointed out a truth I’ve said before–there will always be something else to keep me busy. The time and energy is there, I just have to make an effort to look for it.
