Sleeping my way to the top

A recent email from the folks at True Dungeon got me thinking about GenCon Indy again. One of the highlights was rooming with DCC Slush God Harley Stroh. Thinking ahead, I emailed Harley a proposal for a possible DCC module before the convention.

We never got the chance to discuss it, due to his busy schedule. (If they had an Iron GameMaster award at GenCon, Harley would get my vote.) He finally emailed me afterward, but my concept was too broad in scope. I felt used and dirty, especially after being subjected to an eyeful of his Harleyness in the hotel room. ;)

My wounded pride received salve shortly thereafter in the form of an invitation to participate in a DCC compilation similar to The Adventure Begins. That manuscript, a.k.a. Secret Project #1, was turned in last week. Harley has promised I can kiss-and-tell once the release date nears.

For now, be encouraged that sleeping with the editor can get you results.

Cool. I hadn’t asked Harley yet who my co-collaborators were. I would have loved to bat ideas back and forth with you, Jeff, but between this deadline and S&S, I pretty much kept my head down and the fingers on the keys.

I’m disappointed. I thought you were above sleeping with editors to get a writing gig, Kam. ;)

Ok, I can see the draw, but Harley?? lol

    j/k Grimmy

Heh, it was pretty innocent. We didn’t even sleep in the same bed. Harley brought a sleeping bag and was generous enough to donate the two beds to myself and Alex Anderegg, another DCC author.
