Relvan reworked

The move went well. We managed to get everything inside before the heavy rain started. Unpacking always goes quicker than packing. The only hitch so far has been the delay in getting the phone, cable and address switched over. The cable and phone were supposed to happen on Friday, but neither were working on Saturday when we plugged everything in. I forgot to pick up a change of address form at the Post Office when I mailed one of the eBay items that sold (USPS charges a dollar to switch online :P ). Hopefully all three should get resolved today.

Oh, yeah, if you’re interested, there’s still time to bid on several of my eBay listings.

Relvan’s Rescue
No sooner did I mention retiring this short story than an idea for how to rework it strike me. (As a funny aside, that post was picked up by a blog about retirement planning. Stupid keyword bots.) I solicited your help in refining the hook for “Relvan’s Rescue” almost a year ago. Lukahn’s comment about “a lot of different stuff to shove into a short story” resonated with me. I was trying to do too much thematically in an effort to introduce the reader to the setting.

So, I’m gutting the story. It will now focus on Janner’s relationship with his old flame by confining the pair together on the ship as he escorts her and her son across the sea. There will still be pirates, and Janner will still have to rescue Relvan (and his mother). Hopefully, the extra words gained from removing all the other elements gives me the room to turn this into something that jumps out of the slush pile.

Kam, if you end up having any of those D&D books left (not as they are currently grouped), I’ll take the following off your hands if you let me know a cost:

    1) Races of Stone
    2) Races of Destiny
    3) Unearthed Arcana
    4) Book of Exalted Deeds
    5) Frostburn

No sweat :) Glad they’re selling for you :)

Gratz on the move, by the way. We just moved into our first home as well. Moving is a trying thing.
