Hi, Frank. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. WotC has released a few FR books set after the Spellplague, so technically they are 4E. These are the Waterdeep series and Plague of Spells trilogy. I've read Mistshore, and nothing jumped out at me and screamed "4E mechanic," which is really as it should be. Of course, I may have missed some FR-specific gameplay references, as I haven't read any of the 4E FR source books.

I'm with you on this one, but where is all the 4e fiction? No novels out as far as I can see - I can't even find fan fiction.

I don't think it will affect it all that much. Most of the D&D based fiction I've read really doesn't conform to any particular class system, but instead just borrows elements from the rule books.

Then again, now that I think about it, besides the DragonLance novels, I don't think I've read much D&D specific fiction. But of what I have read, I don't recall ever feeling the novels themselves were conforming to any particular ruleset.

Lukahn's last blog post was <a href="http://obsidianshard.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!9AADE90359E371F2!315.entry" rel="nofollow">It's your nickel. Watch it work!</a>
